f*ck !!! This is the meaning behind nique the French phrase at least.
Of course, theres a bit more meaning than this behind Melbournes much loved Nique street fashion label, which originally got its name from a piece
of graffiti art in a Parisian back alley.

After living and breathing out of the city for over eight years, the label has
expanded to reach more than 120 stores Australia and New Zealand wide.
Not a bad achievement for the husband and wife couple who started designing the label in their early 20s when they were still enjoying more
than their fair share of late nights and loud music.

Though Co Founders Nick and Lucy Ennis have slowed down on the
late nights but the vibe of this time and the many memories and moments
remain an integral part of the Nique culture. The city scape is a central
source of inspiration for the clothing. But forget gloss and glamour. Nique
is about the real elements that make up our surroundings. The streets,
the railways, the factories, the throngs of static lights, and the night time people drifting from one hidden bar to another. Shades of charcoal black, asphalt grey and moonlight blue are ever present in the clothes no matter the season and reflect the Nique urban feel.

Woven into this industrial aesthetic is a strong thread of modern melbourne
sophistication. Like the head designers, Nique has matured from its early days when it was young and wild. Whilst still maintaining a strong interest in graphic design (as represented in the tshirt collections) Nique has grown to take pride in garments that rely on subtle details, simplicity and exceptional quality.

With an array of creative cuts for both men and women, Niques upcoming
range for next season urges all of us to embrace a summer in the cityÃÆ'‚™.
