About manhattansocial
My name is Kristen and I live on Chrystie street downtown. Has a sexy ring to it, but unfortunately its near Chinatown and reeks of fish--not so sexy.I work in interior design, I sort of just fell into it after graduation. Aubussons anyone?
Fashion and travel are my true passions in life. I love Italy and France. I lived in Florence for four months when I was 21. J'adore Paris. Very cliche because I am a feminine girl. I love Tuscany. I love the Amalfi coast. I can't wait to go to Capri again when I am a power business woman in my white linen for a month and drink bellinis and lay out all day. I speak French, Italian and Spanish. Mostly Italian. My ethnicity is 1/2 French, 1/4 English, and 1/4 Polish and German. I've interned with Harper's Bazaar thinking editorial was for me, but "no thanks" to making no money and working all the time!
Right now I am kind of just floating to gain professional experience in design and to pay my rent; waiting for that great fashion opportunity to come my way.
I have wanted to live in New York since I was virtually five years old and have worked hard to be here, from getting into NYU to working three jobs--i've done it all!
I am originally from Fairfield County, CT and I have a great family who I am very close with especially my baby sister Ally who is also a fierce photographer!
Besides Ally, I have a ton of great girlfriends which make life out on the town interesting and exciting! From college friends with record deals, roomates with brothers of primetime fame, getting citations for open containers from NYPD (one of my low brow moments btw), corner banquettes at butter and Indochine(sometimes i know "people") or going to dive frat bars for the boys.
And what would a fashionistas life be without boys? You would think i liked the pretty boy LA type that could get me into every chill club in New York?
Give me an ivyleaguer with who works in finance 5'10 or taller with an athletic build and i'm done! Something about smarts, sucess and good looks is ever more appealing then just looks and...that's usually it with those clubby-meatpacking boys.
I mean I am from Connecticut?! I will always have a special place in my heart for madras and loafers along with Marc and Chanel!
But back to my fashion roots...
My Dad is old school in that although he is very sucessful he always made me have a job and work for anything "extra"! How glamourous is it cutting pizzas at 14? Dreaming of Dior and serving diet coke?
My page is going to be all about including real glam into your everyday life. I plan on working towards and having a long, fabulous career in fashion for years to come. Let's have some fun!

Iconic “It” Girl: Edie SedgwickBesides the Roaring 20’s, the Swinging 60’s have to be another fabulous era in history I unfortunately missed out on. There are a slew of actresses and models from the 60’s that influence me fashion-wise today in how I dress and interpret fashion.
It is, however, one gamine beauty whose 15 minutes of fame is having a recent resurgence in the fash

Was that five seconds of grunge that happened on the runway in seasons past only a hiccup? Is Seattle here to stay?! Shall I pull my flannels out of storage?
