The loafers are back! This nanna-loving shoe is hitting stores big this winter. I am absolutely loving this shoe with just about every outfit. It is almost as versitile as the ballet flats and can be worn all year around. Check out the range from mimco- in particular their patent styles. Also for those with a bit of $$$, Louis Vuitton and Marni have designed their twist on the good ol' traditional loafer.

With jewel embellishment, outrageous prints and crotch-skimming hemlines in liberal quantities, this season’s Jeremy Scott woman doesn’t shy away from flamboyance.

The Greatest Collections and Runway Shows from Alexander McQueen

I was very sad to hear a few weeks ago that Alexander McQueen had passed away. Of all of the high fashion designers, he would have to be my favourite. His bold,unique take on fashion was ground-breaking, influential and often attacked for it’s controversial nature. He stood out as a designer who was never afraid to take a risk with runway shows that were always intriguing and out of the ordinary.

In the aftermath of McQueen’s death I would like to take this opportunity to reminisce on my favourite runway shows by Lee Alexander McQueen. Before I do, I would like to mention that if you are ever in a perfume shop ask to try McQueen’s ‘Kingdom’ fragrance. I originally bought this fragrance for the beautifully designed bottle but it really is a lovely deep fragrance perfect for Winter.

The grunge fashion of the 90’s is making a comeback as the weather cools down with combat boots, ripped jeans and messy hair. For a more feminine take on the trend check out the new range by Foley and Corinna. Their take on 1990’s grunge fashion is subtle and a bit sexy too.

Not sure how Kurt Cobain would feel about the new grunge aesthetic as it is definitely a more clean look than that of the 90’s. Foley and Corinna’s Fall 09 Collection is a sweet take on grunge with a real motorcycle feel.

The Fashion World is Turning to Plus Size Models as Chanel offer their Headquarters to V Magazine Shoot

It was last year at Rosemount Fashion Week that plus sized models were used for the first time at a major fashion event in Australia. Women ranging from sizes 14-18 including Elizabeth Green and Fiona Faulkiner (former biggest loser contestant) modeled a collection by retailer City Chic.

Now Karl Lagerfeld seems to have changed his tune on using plus sized models by photographing the gorgeous and very voluptuous burlesque performer Miss Dirty Martini for V Magazines controversial ‘size issue’ which came out in January.

Strangely Martini didn’t wear any garments by Chanel for the shoot but was covered in Chanel accessories and temporary tattoos. Perhaps someone had a problem committing to jumping on the plus sized model bandwagon after such a public stance to the contrary?

We caught all the action this year on the streets of Sydney as the annual Mardi Gras parade took place. It was estimated that 10,000 people took part in the parade for 2010, and the crowds only proved how popular this annual event is.

The festival, aimed to bring awareness to the gay community, takes on a different theme each year. I must say, I am a fan of the recent feathery trend. Feather accesories, feathers shoes and feather bags have been on my wish list since i've wanted to bring out my inner 1970s hippy self. Feather clothes however, is a different story. The thought of a feathery ensemble just screams out drag queen to me.

All that changed after viewing Karl Lagerfeld's 2010 Fendi Spring collection. The site of that model draped in an ostrich feather trim cape made me very weak in the knees. I started picturing myself walking down the street in that very same cape, the very same shoes, the very same OTT fendi accessories. The things I would do for those shoes and bags...

The Richard Nicoll ready to wear autumn/winter 2010 collection has just about done away with colour, reducing the volume of the maroons and sapphire blues and relying on gloomy greys to underscore the remarkable tailoring of his pieces. The range explores and experiments with standard suiting, using asymmetry and uncharacteristic fabrics such as velvet, sheer silks and this season’s hit material, shearling, to accent the flow of Nicoll’s signature tailoring.

Plaid features heavily in all sizes and many pieces, from a checked dress to checked pants paired with a voluminous bomber jacket and patent black platform heels. However, the velvet pieces are the highlights of the range: juxtaposed with sheer materials and canvas belts, the smooth folds show off Nicoll’s excellence in drap...
