Zambesi RAFW Day 2

Attention to detail was key at the Zambesi runway for RAFW. A mixture of crisp, strong designs for both men and women showcased the unique creativity behind the label. A new trend has been forming in the Australian industry as panelled detail and braces adorn suit jackets, constricting chests and forming a military appeal to the overall collection.

Men wore dizzying thread patterns that brought suit jackets to life and made patterned undershirts pop. The men at Zambesi remained contemporary yet classic, combining sharp suit designs with fluid shirts and structured detail. Asian inspired fabrics, patterns and cuts formed the basis for the overall collecion. Soft hues of violets, red, creams and beige worked together in contemporary prints that were reminiscent of ecclectic kimono designs. Feet were decked out in shiny brogue lace ups, detailed with glitter, which fitted perfectly alongside the sequined shirts seen in the mens wear.

As jolts of colour were thrown into the collection, white and black appeared in mass, from sheer white raincoats and hooded anoraks to a feathered strapless dress in bold black. Assymetrical cuts and abstract panelling proved a steady theme, as dresses were one shouldered and hem lines played with varying lengths and finishes. Zambesi played with the notion of androgyny, as women wore man-style pants and crisp shirts with powerful collar lines and chest panelling.

Ruched body-con dresses stole the show, as did the colourful arrangements of red, cream and black. Men's waists were cinched in with skinny belts over light-weight raincoats. Overall the Zambesi collection remained current and reflective of fast city life.
