Vintage Fashion Trend: Leather Hip Bags
When I realised the latest vintage fashion trend was leather hip bags, I didn’t quite know what to think of it. Firstly I have never been a fan of the daggy bum bags that your parents would wear on family holidays back in the 90's, and I definitely don’t condone the bum bag for anyone except keen tourists who love to revel in typical tourist attire. But the leather hip bag is different, it’s basically the cooler older sister of the bum bag. It’s more advanced and trendy and has a certain subtleness and style to it rather than it’s awkward younger sibling. As I realised this vital difference I thought I should give the leather hip bag the benefit of the doubt, and let it prove it’s stake in fashion to me.

The leather hip bag has been described as ‘a very addictive way to organise your belongings’ and it is the latest in women's fashion accessories. With it’s compact and versatile form, my first thoughts of the leather hip bag was that my things would be easy to find and actually organised, as opposed to the mess that is constantly my hand bag. Another pro of the leather hip bag is that it is hands-free, so you won’t need to worry about juggling a coffee in one hand, bag in other and a phone on your ear all at once. It sits on your hip, and can be worn through belt holes so that it’s perfectly secure. It kind of reminds me of men’s worker belts, equip with all their tools, except for women the leather hip bag is equip with our daily essentials-iPod, phone, wallet and lip gloss.

The leather hip bag is a vintage fashion trend that is suited to those who hate carrying a large hand bag (or any bag at all) and who love to be organised. The leather hip bag is mostly concealed as a belt and sits comfortably on your hip. And despite it’s small size these pint sized bags are pretty expandable and surprisingly fit a lot of things! And the best bit? The leather is made from 100% organic leather, meaning it is sourced from cows that died naturally and not in the face of fashion.
