The viral waistcoat experiment has taken off! This is no ordinary waistcoat; chances are it has travelled further then the average man. A well worn leather waistcoat created by Russ Tucker of Tequila, initially questioned whether an inanimate object can go viral. Well the answer is now clear, yes, and we have over 120 photos to as proof.  

This black leather waistcoat has travelled with people from across the globe, who have experienced the connection with other people who have worn it before them. In a way, this waistcoat represents friendship because it connects everyone around the world with one piece of clothing. Starting in Sydney, it then got passed around New Zealand and made its way to the UK. People are encouraged to wear it and get a snap shot with it on, then sign it and pass it on to others.  

The goal of the viral waistcoat is to travel all over the world, visiting every continent and city, and one day return hopefully still in tact. The waistcoat helps to raise awareness of commonality, acceptance and community as its ultimate dream is to be worn by all. We haven’t seen a small project go global since ‘Free hugs’ so this is a great initiative to get involved in. If you find yourself lucky enough to cross paths with the viral waistcoat, wear it with pride and smile for the camera! The viral waistcoat is rapidly growing with more fans – and we’re not just talking about facebook, it has also grown into a brand for itself.  

Last time we heard of it, the viral waistcoat had travelled across Europe, stopping in London for a football game with fans, drinking in a pub with mates, visiting the Milan cathedral, horse back riding, climbing mountains and getting worn by babies. It is now making its way to LA and is rumoured to be heading to Japan! This is one busy waistcoat.
