As a general rule, I don't follow trends. And people who do really annoy me. There are many things I would really like to buy but the fact that EVERYONE has one (eg; checked shirts) really turns me off. I like the fact that I wear what I wear because I like it and not because some fashion editor picked it out for me. The same also applies for: technology (phones, laptops), boyfriends and basically anything in life.

Now I'm not saying that I'm above everyone else because I'm not (I would never pretend to be). Just because I don't follow trends doesn't mean I'm holier than thou. My point, however, is that I have a general dislike for the ever so popular. I do believe that the objects everyone has to have are like sheep dogs. They herd the sheep together.

The most recent example I have of this is below:

I have heard so many people say the following about this phone:

- I want it because everyone else will have it and if I don't have it I will look like a loser.

Somebody suggested: waiting a couple of months till the price drops. The person stated:

"But by that time it wont be popular anymore."

People have also said:

- Everyone will think I'm cool if I have one.

- I think it's ugly but if I don't get one I'll look like a loser.

- I didn't really want one but I got one anyway.

Even seemingly "sensible" people have been herded into the sheep category with their purchase of this phone.

I was told by a person who HATES Apple products: I hate the phone, it's ugly, slow and crap. Probably one of the worst phones I have seen but I got it because I wanted everyone to see me with it.

To this all I can say is: OK THEN!

Why is that with the release of a phone even people who hate trends flocked to purchase it? Why do self-proclaimed "nerds" who deem themselves to know better, buy a phone that they admit to hate from a company they despise, just to look cool?

I will not be buying one of these phones and if I see someone I know holding one of them I think I will look the other way and run (which is something I never do).

If people didn't follow the fluro trend (shame on you Supre) then why do they follow this one?
