Skybombers album review
'Take me to town'

Where aren't the Skybombers these days?! These boys have exploded onto the music scene with charisma and true rock star attitude. Just like Oedipus was destined to marry his mother, this four piece band was destined to stardom with tunes as catchy as that 'my dad picks the fruit' Cottes ad (but a whole lot more stylish of course)! The Skybombers long awaited album 'Take me to town' is filled with ultimate rock tunes that are groupie worthy. And you'd agree with me if you'd been at their album launch last month at Ding dong lounge!

Excuse me while I reminisce.....

The supporting band, 'The Young Lovers' come on, their eclectic mix of electronic keyboard and indie ballads puts everyone in a great mood. I bob down to miss a foot in the head (from an adventurous crowd surfer) but it doesn't discourage me! The charisma is practically sweating off them and I'm lapping up every bit of it!

As the Skybombers play to a sold out crowd I can picture them on the cover of Rolling Stone
in no time. According to a fan, the Skybombers have the kind of sound that America
loves. Recently featured in Australias Groupie magazine the four boys had humble beginnings
in Melbourne. Their infectious sound channels 60s garage pop; 70s rock n roll and 90s
grunge with a completely new twist.

Strong vocals and plenty of bass make all their songs sing/shout along worthy! Especially 'Always complaining' and 'It goes off', which will help get anyones groove on! The film clip to 'Always Complaining' is one of my favourite... not to be confused with a Stephen King film, the creepy shots of naked mannequins surrounding the boys in an ere abandoned warehouse is pure excitement!

Now I do have a little confession to make....I know the Skybombers and The Young Lovers on a more personal note (not that that makes me biased in any way)! Ravi, Hugh, Scott and Sam are not only brilliant musicians with explosive ballads likened to great Aussie band Jet but they're seriously top blokes!

These musical dynamos have toured around Australia and the US, playing with the likes of the Foo Fighters, Operator please and Grinspoon. Not bad for the boys next door from Melbourne! So if your ears are dying for something new that'll rock your socks off then check out their debut album! You won't be disappointed!
