The short bob haircut has swept the nation again in 2008.  The bob haircut was a controversal style in its conception a little over 80 years ago.  "The bob" or the "3/4" haircut was first introduced in The Great War and took ahold of women around the US during the 1920's.  The bob haircut then wasn't just about being sleek and sexy, (as it is today) it was about rebellion and became synonymous with the flapper image. 

Fun fact:  The bobby pin was invented in the 20's so women could pin their short bob haircuts back away from their faces.

Today, it's a trend that came on quick due to a few fresh hot stars sporting the edgy look.  Kate Holmes copied Posh's short style but added bangin' bangs.  Holmes' bob is more traditional (or just like her 2 1/2-year-old daughter's).

Rihanna did something with the bob that no on has done with a hairstyle since "The Rachel" back in the mid '90's.  Rihanna's look is similar to Posh's with the cut being longer in the front, but Rihanna's is more extreme and she often styles it so only one side is longer and the back was shorter.  Since her bob debute, girls all across America have gotten the "Rihanna cut."

I'm glad the bob has made it back into the spotlight.  It's hip and funky.  The up keep is super easy...take a few minutes to blow dry and you're set.  Bobs are suited for most face shapes so you don't have to worry if it's going to look right or not and there's a ton of cute and spunky ways to style a bob haircut.
