Ready to Wear Show 3, Wed 30th April, 2008

Designers on Show: Annah Strettan, Anupama Daval, Dorian Ho, Gina Kim, Liza Emmanuele Pastels, white and black were the main colours in Annah Strettan's collection - a 1920' s flapper-style inspired range of feminine and girly dresses. Layers, frills, and sheer overlays were authentic 20s, but added metallic touches, and panelling details transported the trend to the new millennium. Perfect pieces for the races, high-tea or elegant drinks in the evening.

Liza Emmanuele used mainly caramel, cream, black and metallic hues sprinkled with touches of bright pop colours like purple and floral prints. Light silk dresses were textured with circles, ruffles and floaty cap sleeves also added an ultra feminine feel to this collection. Sweet, delicate styles - think rich wives club holding a tea party. Anu Pampaa brought out a bohemian, almost Indian-inspired collection, with models gracing the catwalk in bare feet. Floaty, sheer dresses, skirts and tops with beading, sequins, gem details, loose panels of delicate fabrics in yellows, pinks, green, blue, white, grey, orange, coral, golds and silvers. Light, relaxed and carefree - the voluminous, kaftan-like shapes will remind you of holidays in bali or a day out at the beach. Quirky features make this collection similar to what you might find at Alannah Hill, and an earthy gypsy feel also make it comparable to Tree of Life clothing.

Gina Kim's collection was a mix of a wide variety of styles, prints and colours. From minimalist, modern dresses with interesting draping and gathers in black and grey to a pink/blue floral print halter neck mini dress with a ruffle front to a yellow, grey & white checked shirt dress. Gina has created a womenswear range suitable for hitting the town, going to work or cruising to the markets on the weekend.

Dorian Ho was the only designer in this parade to add a bit of theatre to his runway show. A collection inspired by ancient china, a model dressed in traditional chinese dress with gold headdress opened the show, setting the stage for his range – modern eveningwear drawing on his chinese heritage. Garments were in cream/caramels, dark ruby/wine, sea foam, grey/lilac and silver. Added details of gems, sequins, frills, metallics, bows, long sheer draping and overlays made these dresses completely unique.
