Ready to Wear Collection #4, Thurs 1st May, 2008

Designers on Show: Stitch Ministry, Injuri, Leopold, and Rufus Green.

Stitch Ministry created a wearable collection for men and women in deep blue, metallic grey, coral, black and cream. Materials with a sheen, ribbed singlets and knits, round neck styles, sheer, floaty sleeves, frills, sheer and a stripy/tiger-like print with a hint of yellow dominated.

Female styles were often waisted at the hip, rather than being high as many designers have favoured this week. There were a wide variety of knee-length and full-length dresses, some with draped sleeves, others with floaty, frilled sleeves. Men were dressed in blazers, above the knee shorts, low slung tailored pants with a tailored hem, short sleeve plaid hoodies (providing plaid isn’t quite dead yet), striped jumpers and zipped cardis. Overall a wearable, almost preppy look from Stitch Ministry.

Injuri presented a collection for men and women coloured in bright corals, blacks, metallics & yellows. Standouts were a tuxedo shape blazer with a long back, skinny leg pants with draping, the use of brights fading to white, a pair of futuristic shiny silver pants and a hot coral/yellow near fluoro (but not quite â€" this trend is definitely on the way out), oversized t-shirt dress. This collection was tailored street, a mix of patent, semi-transparent, classic styles with an edgy twist.

Leopold introduced a collection for men in grey, white, black and a range of denim. Mid-thigh fitted tailored shorts, v-neck jumpers, rull-up knee length denim shorts, knits, patent jackets, blazers, single breasted suit, vests, tuxedos and knit cardis made this fashionable wear suitable for the office, street or a night out. The highlights were a patent red zip up collared jacket, and a white tuxedo with black piping â€" very James Bond.

Rufus Green has a reputation for great street/party wear for men and women, and their Spring Summer collection this year didn’t disappoint. Prints, lime, grey, dusty pink, yellow, black, red, gray, white and a range of 80s inspired denim washes provided the canvas for a range of cool attire for boys and girls. Most notable were the Oversized tees for boys, with a longer back made up of the top half of another tee stitched to the back, low-crotched denim and vests with hoodies.
