RSVP: Swapping is the New Shopping - Miss Greens Wardrobe

The business of the moment is an economically savvy, chic way to get new clothes. Miss Greens Wardrobe hosts Designer fashion exchange events to provide an eco friendly alternative for Melbourne’s fashionistas. At the lavish CBD nightspot Baroq house, the events are the high fashion alternative to a shopping spree, where fashionistas bring the favourite pieces they have tired of to exchange for other high fashion pieces. The events work via a token system where items with similar value and condition can be swapped. There are diamond, heart and club tokens where Clubs are for high street labels such as Country Road, Diamonds are for boutique labels such as Zimmerman and Hearts are for Designer labels such as Hermes and Prada. The current economic climate has changed shopping habits, creating a void which has been perfectly filled by Miss Greens Wardrobe. The business’ inventor Rebecca George has seized on these changed attitudes, noting that recycled fashion is now regarded as a “thrifty and environmentally sustainable option rather then something that used to be looked upon as “poor”.

Being a smart financial option for fashion lovers is not Miss Green’s Wardrobes chief goal – being conscientious about the environment comes second. Many fashion labels have adopted economically sustainable practices in the production of their pieces, and these labels donate some profits to charities. Rebecca George strongly believes in encouraging these practices, and personally enters fashion cometitions of labels with these goals. Some of Rebecca's favourite conscientious labels and businesses include: T2, OPI, MOP organic products, Text publishing, Grill’d, Soul Sisters and Joolz to name just a few. In the future as Miss Greens Wardrobe grows and begins to make a profit - it may be able to reflect Rebecca's passion and donate some earnings to economic causes.

Miss Green’s wardrobe is a smart and modern business which encourages sustainability while keeping the style and “chicness” associated with fashion. Miss Greens proves that fashionistas can contribute to a sustainable future, with style.

Catch the next event at Baroq House in Melbourne on Wednesday June 24th. Visit www.missgreenswardrobe.com.au for details.
