Parklife 2008
After a week of awesome Sydney weather you could bet that thousands of Parklife ticket holders were gearing up for some fun in the sun come Sunday. But that didn’t quite eventuate. As is often the case when you’re psyched for some amazing weather things didn’t go quite according to plan and Sunday’s skies were far from blue. It was a mellower vibe than usual when the gates for Parklife opened, and you could most definitely blame it on the lack of sunshine. Interestingly enough even the cooler weather couldn’t persuade many to reconsider their festival wardrobes. There was still as many bare and buff chests and short shorts as you’d expect from Parklife. And incase you were wondering, fluoro is still very much alive.
With a pretty massive line-up and some die-hard music lovers hanging about, the crappy vibe didn’t stick around for too long and the day got into full swing. While festivals are notorious for getting more and more overrun by crowds as each year passes this year’s Parklife didn’t seem as ridiculously packed, which is always a good thing.
During the day there were are stack of people hanging out for Dizzee Rascal’s set, who is becoming a bit of a fixture at festivals of late, but if the weather wasn’t enough to disappoint Dizzee Rascals set probably did the trick. Shabby to say the least!
While it wasn’t the best festival 2008 has seen, the day was still a good one, grey clouds and all. On the bright side, for all the hanging about the grey clouds did, there wasn’t a drop of rain.
