"Local vocalist Carissa Lehmann Weise, with her band 'falling in Autumn' will debut her EP launch this Saturday night at the Mona Vale Hotel at 8pm. ‘falling in Autumn’ was formed when Weise met northen beaches boy Simon Williams through a mutual friend almost a year ago. "I heard that Simon was looking for a female artist" said Wiese’. It was a match in music heaven. Carissa’s soulful voice was exactly what Simon was after and Simon’s skills with the guitar were perfect for Carissa’s vision. The duo set to work collaborating their already independent songs sharing new ideas and stories.
Looking at the music industry there is nothing like "falling in Autumn" as they are in a genre of their own. It’s traditional meets modern as the violin, cello and piano were brought in to accompany Simon’s acoustic guitars. "I guess you could describe us as orchestral harmonious" the lead singer suggests. The ambient atmospheric sound that they produce is perfect for lay back, or to sit and to let yourself be taken away into the world of their music.
Originally from South Australia, Carissa fell in love with singing when she was just 7 years old performing anywhere she could. Carissa desperately wanted to grow as an artist so she left her friends and family behind and moved to Sydney to continue studying music after high school. Now a scholarship graduate, the 24 year old is sharing her gift with all of Sydney.
The singer songwriter says she gets her inspiration from observing the people around her. Her songs could be descried as ‘folk’ as most of her music tells the story about life experiences and everyday people. Fellow band member Simon, gets his inspiration for his songs however, from the love and heart break he experiences through his involvement with just that.
The song which will be featured at their EP launch, ‘One Broken Man’ was written when Carissa was just 19. She explains that the song is about a close friend who was going through a separation at the time and talks about the impact of devastation that can be left on the human sprit. The band filmed a video clip for the track featuring Jason Dundas, CLEO’s Bachelor of the Year for 2008.
'falling in Autumn' love performing to a live audience and will be sharing their music to the Sydney city and outskirts throughout the year because it is what they love to do.
This independently managed band, "falling in Autumn’ is an experience everyone should experience."
Interviews and photos with the band members can be arranged on request.
