With the celebrities flowing just as quickly as the drinks, the rooftop of well known sunglasses brand Oakley was certainly the place to be on the evening of the annual St Kilda Festival, on Sunday 10th. One thing was apparent, fashion was high on the agenda - I'm not talking about fashion in general, I'm referring to eyewear. Hosted by the industry leader, patrons at this party had everything from vintage Oakley's right through to early releases of next season's glasses and everything in between.
With music pumping and djs doing their thing it was hard not to get caught up by this atmosphere, what appeared to be a never ending glass of bubbly in one hand, celebrities all around and some damm good tunes to top it off, what more could you possibly want?
With what could only be described as a surreal location, the Oakley building is situated right on the Esplanade, just a minute walk from the historic Luna Park and has the picturesque St Kilda beach as the backdrop.
Daniel McPherson (ex-Neighbours, the Bill and currently starring in City Homicide on channel 7) was sporting not only the shiniest pair of Oakley's and an Oakley t-shirt, but had one more Oakley accessory than most - on his arm was his stunning girlfriend and Oakley employee Kristi Townley. Daniel wasn't the only ex-Neighbours star to make an appearance, Blair McDonough (also former Big Brother housemate) was there with a Corona on hand. Getaway presenter Jules Lund proved his larrikin sense of humour and down to earth personality isn't just a front, this man was making his way around the crowd and befriended all of us along the way. Another celebrity who hasn't let it go to his head was Gyton Grantley - AKA Carl Williams from the new show Underbelly.
As the sun set over this relaxed, perfectly planned party the drinks appeared to be flowing faster than before (thanks Corona), the music pumped louder than earlier and the dance floor built up, the rest of the night as they say is history. Come Monday morning, I'm sure many a patron from the night before would be sporting a very dark pair Oakley sunnies to hide their morning after eyes.
