Nicola Finetti wowed the crowds at RAFW last night with his stunning collection of soft silks and sharp hard cuts. The contrasted detail between the fabric choice and the definitive structure of each piece was nothing short of amazing- imagine smooth silks that sit rigidly on the body and retain power. Ruffles, feathers and embellished detail once again proved a popular choice by Finetti (there is definitely a trend forming for the coming seasons: lots of intricate detail making subdued pieces stand out from the crowd)

The models wore sleek pony tails with crimped ends, and vibrant orange coloured eye lids added a hint of drama to this strong collection. In true Finetti style, the garments were sleek, sharp and powerful. Crisp white tailored shorts were worked with black blazers, evening cocktail dresses formed assymetrical cuts and jolts of colour brought the otherwise white & black collection to life. Architectural detail adorned body-con cocktail dresses, from extended shoulders to halter neck style.

Nicola Finetti applied a heavily layered look to several of the cocktail and evening wear dresses, hemlines were purposefully off-centre and draping proved a popular technique at the front and back of many garments. The ruffle effect is set to be a huge trend in the coming seasons, with many other designers creating detail similar to Finetti's. Large, bountiful ruffles, created with sheer greys and blacks were worked around the shoulders, adding that extra touch to sleek evening wear.

The finale of the show featured five evening gowns, in floor length cuts, in a variation of colours from beige, to black, white and a centre-piece orange. The models finished in line at the end of the runway, showing an impressive overview of Nicola Finetti's latest work.
