New York - Part 3.

Smack-bang in the middle of New York City is Central Park, a sanctuary that makes you forget for as long as you’re walking through it, you are not in the city but rather immersed in Mother Nature.

During summer, this large land mass is covered in luscious green grass, so soft that when you go barefoot you’ll feel like you’re walking on carpet. Blooming flowers and pristine clear bodies of water scattered all over the park are also in sight.

Central Park is also equally beautiful in winter. The crisp winter breeze blows through the naked trees shaking off the remainder autumn leaves that hang by a stem and onto the concrete paths that are layered in sleet from the night before. Such tranquillity surrounds the park and all you can hear is your own breathing and feel the warmth from your body escape your mouth like as if you were smoking a cigarette.

This is the place for where all New Yorkers congregate from the posh middle age woman from the Upper East Side who is wrapped in her fur coat and out walking her beloved well-groomed dog to families from Harlem who have just come out for some fresh air as they enjoy each other’s company.

In the distant you’ll still be able to faintly hear the beeping horns of New York’s taxis as well as the galloping of horses against the pavement. It is this where locals and tourists alike find it a romantic and well worth thing to do while at Central Park and that is, to take a horse and carriage ride around the park. Seen already in so many movies coming here will be your chance to be a part of it all. You’ll get your own personal tour guide and in his New York accent he’ll give you pointers as to where you to go – just don’t forget to leave him a tip.

Another main attraction of the Park is the Wollman Skating Rink, one of the most popular outdoor rinks in the States and it shows especially on the weekends when it can get pretty crowded. Instead, head there during the weekdays and you should be skate fairly autonomously.

But the Park is not just like any other park, it has so much uniqueness to offer that you’ll find yourself wandering through it for a whole day and you’ll leave probably unsatisfied because you haven’t seen all of it yet – that’s how big this place really is. So big that it splits the city into two; west and eastside but as a tourist you’ll find it convenient as it makes navigating through New York much easier.
