New Raw Bar Opens at Flying Fish
Yesterday saw the opening of “Raw Bar”, the latest dining concept from one of the most well renowned seafood restaurants in Sydney.
I had read only positive reviews about Flying Fish and its stunning location on Sydney Harbour. Being new to the city, I was excited about the dining experience that awaited me.
The Raw Bar offered a sushi inspired menu with an extensive range of beverages which included sake, 7 varietals of Dilmah Green Teas, wines by the glass as well as 50 varietals of half bottle wines to suit all tastes and budgets.
I was very impressed with the bar’s unique setting amidst original timber beams and steel trusses. The striking harbour views enhanced by subtle lighting from above offered a backdrop that would be difficult for any of the world’s great cities to compete with.
Master chef Shogo Hamada was trained in Japan and was previously the sushi chef at the famous Azuma restaurant. He prepared seafood and sushi with a fresh taste that could only compare with meals I have eaten in Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market. All the staff looked immaculate and showed a genuine interest in my comfort and enjoyment.
The Raw Bar is perfect for a quick lunch and will suit locals who want to enjoy the surroundings of Flying Fish, but don’t necessarily want to have the full a la carte experience.

The Raw Bar at Flying Fish is open at the following times:
Tuesday to Friday: 12pm to 10.30pm
Saturday: 6pm to 10.30pm
Sunday Lunch: 12pm to 5pm
Reservations accepted by phone only on (02) 9518 6677.
