Men's and Women's Ready to Wear RAFW Day2

Is chivalry back in fashion? According to labels UnNaked, Leopold and Saint Augustine Academy, the notion of dressing like a gentleman is the latest style profile to have. All four labels collaborated their runways at RAFW to promote well tailored and clean styling. Openers of the show Artsu, took a rather theatrical and dramatic approach to their collection, fusing a mixture of unusual accessories (bunny ears to fish net stockings) with designs that remained mostly street orientated with clear inspiration leading from all things mythical and imaginary.

Artsu brought a touch of traditional menswear to the collection, adding bow ties to styled pieces (could this be the latest trend for men?) As Artsu played with the wierd and wonderful, UnNaked brought a clean cut appeal to the show, keeping their models looking relaxed and natural. Men wore v neck shirts, tailored shorts and waistcoats (the waist coat popped up in many RAFW collections!) whilst women also paraded an assortment of vests and waistcoats, finishing with a stunning silk maxi dress adorned in a black and red leaf print. UnNaked remained organic yet sophisticated, proving that tailored crisp pieces are maintaining a traditional approach to fashion, whilst contemporary prints added style that is undoubtedly modern.

The clean and crisp image of the overall show continued to flow with Leopolds collection. Bow ties were worked into outfits yet again, as was 50's inspired pieces for the women. White high waisted shorts and a red bustier halter top took us back a few decades whilst maintaining a current thread of modern fashion. Hints of grunge throughout the collection worked well with the tailored styling of each garment. Men's trouser pants were rolled up casually at the cuffs, and waist coats added a touch of corporate appeal to the collection.

To finish the show, Saint Augustine Academy proved that the modern day gentleman is not dead. Accessorizing was key with this collection, from the mens bow ties and skinny ties, to frilled lapels, cravats and lace gloves. As the men worked shirts that played with lowered hemlines, waists were again cinched in for both sexes, tied neatly over winter inspired trenches. Double breasted dinner shirts with contrasting black panelling ensured the gentlemanly approach remained sleek, sharp and very current. Women were adorned in stunning white lace dresses, hair pulled neatly into a high bun, allowing true femininity to shine through the garments.

Altogether the mens and womens ready to wear collection proved that class and traditional style has not faded in today's fervent fashion industry. The key trends to look out for this coming season are smaller garments like waistcoats and vests, to accessories like bow ties and skinny belts.

Photos of the Men's and Women's Ready to wear collection will be coming soon, stay tuned!
