Long gone are the days when the Bonds singlet/football shorts combination was considered the height of fashion (sorry boys!) Women are no longer the only ones looking to celebrities for fashion inspiration; male celebs with an eye for style are quickly growing in number! Check out these male style icons (both past and present) that ooze both sex and style appeal.

James Dean

There’s no doubt that the late James Dean is still one of the most influential style icons of the 20th century. He popularized the brooding, bad boy look and the famous ‘James Dean haircut’,  that can still be seen on celebrities such as Sean Penn. Dean’s famous red jacket and jeans combination is even the focus of Indian designer’s Prashant Verma current collection ‘Giant’, which was unveiled at Fashion Week in New Delhi this year.

George Clooney
Of course, the list wouldn’t be complete without George Clooney, a previous cover boy for Men’s Vogue. Many critics have labeled Clooney the ‘present-day Cary Grant’ due to his on-screen versatility, classic good looks and affinity for simple, monochromatic outfits. No one looks as suave in a suit as Clooney does and, on more than one occasion, has even worked a knit polo into his formal attire. Not even facial hair can deter him from looking fantastic.

Kanye West

Multiple Grammy winner Kanye West ain’t just a pretty face. As well as being the hottest hip-hop star around, he was named Stuff Magazine’s ‘Style Icon of the Year’ in 2005 and has his own fashion line, Pastelle Clothing. Sunglasses seem to be his forte; Aussie designers Ksubi have banded with him to create a sunglasses line for his Pastelle range and the Shutter Shades in his ‘Stronger’ video clip were last summer’s must-have item. West’s personal style fusion of hip-hop and preppy is hard to pull off but, like everything else, he does it effortlessly.
