Driving out from the car rental office and onto the six lane highways, on the wrong side of the road can take a little time to get use to it. But you’ll need to because that’s the only way you’re going to get around Los Angeles. 

Despite it being one of the more polluted cities in the United States, the rich and famous call it home and you can’t blame them, it’s a city that holds the stories of Hollywood history.

You’ll discover this when you take a stride along the Hollywood Walk of Fame that stretches for a mile along the footpath of Hollywood Boulevard jumping at the names of known celebrities. There may be some names so old you won’t even recognise.

As you continue down the street, you are led to the famous Kodak Theatre, the location where the red carpet is rolled out for the Academy Awards. Next door is the famous Chinese Theatre, here you can compare the size of your hand and footprint against celebrities including The Schwarzenegger, the kids from Harry Potter and Johnny Depp.

Take the car for a spin and explore Beverly Hills down on Rodeo Drive.  Driving along will make you feel as if you’re in a movie of your own – everything that you picture Hollywood to be is all here – large roads, fancy cars and even the thin palm trees that stretch across along the footpath. This vision of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood becomes more surreal when you reach their favourite spots for shopping. You’ll recognise the name like Chanel, Valentino and Fendi spruiked by celebrities during red carpet events. Nearby is the infamous Sunset strip - keep your eyes out, you’ll never know who you might bump into.

In the City of Angels, resides almost every Hollywood celebrity you can name; Steven Spielberg, Bradgelina and the newest residents to the area, The Beckhams. Pay each of them a visit guided by your Movie Star map. After visiting a few of the celebrity houses, you’ll soon figure that you won’t actually get to see most of these houses because it’s shrouded by tall shrubs. You may leave disappointed but you do get the instantaneous feeling of knowing that your fav celeb is just on the other side.  

Finally, you can’t leave L.A without visiting the famous Hollywood sign up on the Hollywood Hills but make sure you go on a clear day otherwise you might miss out seeing it.
