Phantom of the Opera Review

No one could argue that Anthony Warlow has to be one of the greatest performers of all time. His performance in Phantom of the Opera was so moving, giving a real sense of connection with his character, the phantom of the theatre.

Ana Maria who played Christine, a young singer who captures the heart of the phantom is outstanding particularly as a relatively new stage performer.

Rave in Camperdown closes Parramatta Road

I heard about this party through the grapevine on Facebook. I was only told the location of it via text message around 7pm Saturday. Clinton and I decided on the way home from a mate's farewell that we'd drop by and see a friend.

The warehouse with its many levels was absolutely packed. Interesting mix of party goers, trendoids and rednecks. There was no trouble. Just dancing. Each level had a DJ. There were lasers and i

Faking It

Faking It was a conference held by the Womens Forum Australia during the world youth day events at the Darling Harbour Convention Center. Faking It is essentially a new research paper looking at the effect the mass media has on women and the sexual objectification of women. The research also looks at the early sexualisation of children. I found the presenters empowering and motivational, making some extremly valid points

What's all the hubbub with World Youth Day?

The lead up to WYD had me in suspense. Going to the city every day for work led me cringing at the thought of the chaos this event would bring to the Sydney cbd. I was imagining so many road blocks, there would be no car or bus access and the streets would be completely, utterly flooded with people.

Its now the morning of Thursday the 17th of July, one of the biggest days for the event and I have to say, not one delay or t

Dolly Rocker Movement at The Oxford Art Factory

The typical friday night at Oxford Art Factory.  The levels were filled with people wearing funny hats, pertencious stick insects and the the typical trendoid wearing something competely outrageous. There I was in the sea of people waiting for Dolly Rocker. I had seen them once before and was keen to give them a second listen. Have to say, they sounded even better the second time round. Just good old sounding rock and ro

Lions for Lambs review

Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise and Robert Redford are a few of the big names associated with this film. Redford is also the director.

The movie uses dialogue to discuss some of the most pressing questions of our time. What is the Iraq War really about? What is behind the Bush Administration?

Meryl Streep plays a confident journalist who eventually through her interview with a American Senator ( Tom Cruise), realis

Bill Henson in the clear

I wouldn’t by any means call myself a prude. As a graduate from COFA, I see myself as a person with some degree of knowledge of art. I have to go against the artistic grain here when I say that no matter how I look at it, I don’t think that all of Bill Henson’s work is art.

I am all for pushing boundaries and creating controversy. But not when it comes to children. Nudity has a huge place in art. I person

Art that crosses the line?

Being a creative person I am well aware of the risks and borders we can sometimes cross that often seems to blur the lines of what is acceptable to social standards in art practice. Obsanity, nudity and blasphemy are just some of the ways that artists can get noticed, and be accused of wrong doings.

At the same time, I do not believe that an artist can do whatever they want and say, it’s for the sake
