Dance like no one's watching insists Georgia Hall; creative mind behind the Australian label 'State of Georgia'. The busy designer recently took a little time out, and let us in on her life and the things she loves.

How would your friends describe you?

Crazy.

What would be your most desirable travel destination?

Italy, the food.

What is your favourite food?

Italian and I just love Chinese.

If you had a choice of all haute couture designers in the world, who would you like to work with given the chance?

Chanel would be amazing as I really appreciate how they have kept their old fashion processes of doing things regarding sewing and construction and illustrations. Many talented designers have worked with them and I do not think anyone would pass up an offer to work with them and Karl Lagerfeld.

What do you think is the must-have item of this season?

Confidence.

Who or what has been the greatest inspiration in your life?

Everything inspires me I cannot pin point one thing.

How would you describe your current state of mind?

Well I’m currently in between states I think!!! Although there is one state that seems to hang around and that’s an eccentric craziness!

How and when did the label begin?

It began when a friend asked me to join her in Bali to help her design her next summer range. I just upped and left not saying good-bye to anyone. I then stayed in Bali and designed a shoe range, that was around 5 years ago, and then I got into clothes the next season.

What challenges do you face in the fashion industry?

Working out what works and doesn’t. It’s really a matter of opinion at the end of the day. In the end what’s most important is just sticking to your guns and following through, a great team also helps.

How do you choose your fabrics and colours for each season?

Prints are a huge part of State of Georgia and it’s always something I am constantly searching for and designing, the prints can be inspired by very random things here and there, such as vintage pieces or I can get something in my mind and draw it up instantly.

Do you have a favourite item from the current “State of Georgia” collection?

I love the 80’s two-piece it is very simple dress with a zip at the front, it looks like a top and mini skirt but it is sewn together. Easy and simple yet fun for summer! Great for parties and music festivals

In your eyes, what does the future hold for the “State of Georgia” label?

Lots and lost stay tuned!
