Have you ever been out shopping, saw an article of clothing you liked and then wondered "how would I even wear this?" Well that's a question that I have asked myself time and time again in reference to shiny or metallic leggings. I've found that I am not the only one who wonders how these can be worn. My friends and I have shared many thoughts concerning these edgy leggings. The feedback I've gotten on these has definitely been mixed but after experimenting with them myself and observing how celebrities have been participating in this fashion trend, I must say that I have fallen in love. Do you share my feelings?

Before I begin explaining the best ways to wear them let me tell you the ways NOT to wear them. I only have two simple rules. Please do NOT wear them with short shirts. This also applies to any type of legging, especially very thin leggings. No one wants to see the outline of your underwear or lack thereof. Aside from that, it just looks a little tacky. I have seen some celebrities wearing them with shorter tops but in my opinion it doesn't look very nice. My other rule about shiny leggings is that you shouldn't wear them with a loud or equally shiny top. The leggings stand out as it is, by adding a top that stands out just as much you're look can quickly go from chic and trendy to totally tacky. Can you think of any other ways NOT to wear these?

I personally do not like these in any color other than black. What about you? I just feel that the metallic shine combined with a bright color makes them too loud/ tacky and unwearable. It takes away the chicness. I love how they look with neutral colors such as grey, white and black. However, if you can manage to wear them in a color other than black and make them look good then more power to you. If you can actually achieve this, let me know how you do it!

Do wear these shiny leggings with long tops or dresses, preferably tops that are loose fitting. My favorite way to wear them is under my plaid dresses. I have a plaid button-down dress in black and white and one in black and red and it looks awesome!

Also, do wear these leggings with long boots. Considering it is no longer fall, you can't really get away with wearing them with flats. Besides, wearing them with long boots gives them a little more edge and at the same time keeps them from looking too flashy.

On those days when it is unseasonably warm (Do you love those days as much as I do?) you can create an awesome look by pairing the leggings with a light, neutral top/dress, a leather biker jacket and long boots.

There are so many different ways to make these leggings look awesome. The main thing is to be comfortable with your sense of style and be able to wear them proudly. Since people's feelings towards these leggings are mixed I assure you that you will have critics, but simply playing around with different looks and finding out what works best for you can eliminate negative feelings. I feel that 25% of your look is your outfit and 75% if your attitude while wearing that outfit.
