Exciting, fresh, pretty and extremely wearable are words that can be use to describe Australian label Honey and Beau.
Sue Zhong, the brains behind the label, started Honey and Beau in 2003. Having previously worked with designers such as Lisa Ho and Collette Dinnigan, Zhong started the label in an attempt to create high quality, functional pieces for women.
‘St. Barts Comes to Town,’ Honey and Beau’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection, is all about pretty versatility. It has been described as “the metropolis meets a summer paradise”; it’s easy to imagine yourself frolicking through the city on a balmy summer’s night in these head-turning outfits.
The Spring/Summer 08 range features bustiers, blouses and girly dresses in paisley prints, pale yellows and mushroom. Almost every piece in the collection can be dressed down as daywear, or teamed with heels and fancy jewellery to wear out at night. The collection is pretty without being pretentious, and glamorous without being overwhelming.
It is evident that Zhong’s desire to known her customers is what drives the business’s success. "I want to build a relationship with my customers…I want them to know and understand my brand. The thing I hear all the time, is that customers want fashionable pieces that allow them to update their wardrobe easily, without the disappointing price tag. I think we’ve achieved this with the Honey & Beau label," says Zhong. Luckily for her, we agree wholeheartedly.
