Sportsgirl AW09 Parade

Melbournites lucky enough to be in the know last week got a glimpse of Sportsgirls Preview Collection for Autumn/Winter 09.

Models stormed the catwalk in over 60 of Sportgirls newest looks which included designs by cult label Romance Was Born; a collection that will be hitting stores this April.

Leather jackets, silk blouses, 80s inspired knits, art deco inspired jewellery and buckle boots both flat and high, ankle and knee came together to create a collection built on the themes Dark Romance, East End, Black Magic, Neverland, Garage Chic and Metropole.

The sequin trend shone brightly as did beanies and oversized scarves. Gloves also proved a trend to watch and came in the forms of cut-offs, biker and hobo.

The overall mood and look of the catwalk was sutlry and dark, with black being a predominant feature in the collection.

Soft, floaty sheers and lace were teamed with contrasted, structured tailoring for romantic, gothic looks. Think ruffles and pleating, embellished decoration and heavy-duty exposed zippers which added texture and dimension to simple garment shapes.
