The typical friday night at Oxford Art Factory. The levels were filled with people wearing funny hats, pertencious stick insects and the the typical trendoid wearing something competely outrageous.
There I was in the sea of people waiting for Dolly Rocker. I had seen them once before and was keen to give them a second listen. Have to say, they sounded even better the second time round. Just good old sounding rock and roll.
After the gig, we went over to have a chat to the band. They were friendly guys, and eager to shake hands. Nothing worse than a band that thinks they are too cool for school in the early stages. They are a fresh, young troop of guys who I think have huge potential.
The music was good to chill to, dance to, whatever to.
A bit of a word on the crowd there....
I don't know why people can't be friendly. When I first went to Splendour in the Grass when I was 16 about 7 years ago, the people were so relaxed, so friendly. Everyone who you stood next to was a friend.
At The Oxford Art Factory, I encountered some ugly, rude people. I was there with my partner and our friends. Making a friendly comment about the band playing to the person next to you ended in a ''Ummm excuse me, like why are you talking to me?'
Or a simple, 'Hey dude, where'd you get that longneck from?" received this response, 'aaahhh get your own!'
Since when is being friendly 'uncool?'
Perhaps I should have worn a leather jacket....
