Do or Don't: Futuristic Fashions
Lately, I have been noticing a lot of futuristic fashions. Some female music artists, like Christina Aguilera and Janet Jackson, have been taking the stage in fashions inspired by the future. Then there's Beyonce and that damn "Put a ring on it" video where she sports a robot glove. I'm not sure what that's all about, but there are some great aspect to this fashion trend. I'll break down each Do or Don't: Future Fashions and hopefully we won't go where no man has gone before, but instead, carefully incorporate parts of this look.
Fendi and Belenciaga have taken their runways shows to the future. Fendi's look is more alien chic with all white garb in sharp geometrical shapes. The wide slate grey cinch belt and matching suede over-the-knee boots are fashion dos for this look. However, you might get strange looks walking into the office in a dress of this time period. Stick to softer shapes with it comes to white dresses. Belenciaga wasn't just giving props to C-P3o from Star Wars in this collection, props were given to the shimmery, metallic legging. I, personally, don't dig the gold, but if those were in silver or bronze I would be all over them. Metallic leggings is a look to go with when you want to be bold on the dance floor with all your girl's on lady's night.

There's something to be said about stage presence, but it should still be of this world. I'm not a big fan of Janet Jackson or Christina Aguilera's stage costumes for their current tours. It's too much and, frankly, not at all flattering for their body shapes. Janet Jackson's yellow studded jumpsuit is just plain terrible. Well I'm not sure what it's called, but it's around her waist and I could almost see myself liking it if it were secured over a floor length Greek inspired dress. Christina Aguilera wore this cat woman-space fighter type jumpsuit at the VMAs and I don't advise wearing anything similar at any point, now or in the future. I do like the jacket and it would look great with some wide leg suit pants and a tank underneath.

Beyonce's futuristic fashion: robot glove
Because I don't like it, and want it to go away. This robot glove thing is just too out-of-this-world for me. I'm not disregarding the futuristic fashion trend as a whole because there are ways to rock it with out looking like a space creature. Metallics are really hot, I personally, stick with metallic nails and makeup because it's just enough allusion to the future without looking like you want to be sent to space. I do like the metallic leggings as well, throw on some shimmery silver leggings and a simple black dress cinched at the waist and you'll look like the middle of the 21st century. Don't forget accessories can jump light years ahead (careful not to go too far like Beyone's mechanical wear), but you can always sport metal handbags or jewelry that with reflective properties or geometric shapes.
Some of these futuristic fashions should be shot to the stars, but there are ways to be light years ahead with this trend. Do you like the futuristic fashion that's popping up? Would you wear any of it?
