 There has been a coloured heel comeback! With celebrities like Victoria Beckham wearing coloured heels, we know this bright new trend is going to be popular. Coloured heels can either end disastrously, or if worn with the right outfit they will draw envious stares from women all around. As we head towards Christmas and the New Year there are plenty of party shoes to make any festive outfit all the more festive. Coloured heels are a perfect addition to your wardrobe over the hot Summer months, and designers seem to have been working hard to create some new show stopping heels in unexpected colours and cuts.

Summer however, remains within the same styles but with jolts of electric blues, eye-catching reds, pastel yellows and purples. The runways of our favourite designers have revealed the very latest in coloured heels for Summer 09. Louis Vuitton showcased an amazing collection of tribal influenced heels- think feathers, fringing and straps in every direction! Whilst Marni are introducing a pastel obsession to shoe lovers worldwide, with these intriguing heels in aqua and bright yellow.

Fendi, Gucci and Dior are proving that the red heel is never out of style and this classic shoe can be transformed throughout the seasons. What really caught my eye when browsing the latest coloured heels was these amazing jeweled points from Lanvin- they are a work of art in themselves!

Ok enough with the torture of looking at designer heels, for those of us with a shoe obsession on a budget (most of us), you can expect to see more affordable interpretations of the coloured heel in all your favourite shoe stores. Nine West are a personal favourite for affordable heels with unique style. Look also to labels like Wittner for quality heels in all your party season colours.

The coloured heel is an essential party season item, but don’t go overboard with the colour! Bright heels usually work better with more subdued outfits- jolts of unexpected colour are better than a glaring rainbow! Victoria Beckham wears a complete red outfit here, which I think she looks quite feminine in, but such a daring ensemble is definitely not suited to everyone. Coloured heels are a standout wardrobe essential- but remember too much additional styling can go in the wrong direction- sometimes it is better to let the shoe wear you!
