The chilliest time of year has arrived at last, and what a grand entrance it has made! Fashionistas everywhere have farewelled the warm weather and packed away their micro minis and oversized sunnies. Martinis have been swapped for macchiatos, Friday night dinner with the girls has been deferred until the sun comes back out to play and hot water bottles have become the new bedroom accessory.

Luckily for us, there is a good reason to feel blue this winter: because it’s fashionable. Create the smoky eyed look with a navy shade, or paint your nails teal to get into the spirit of the season. Brave the cold winds in a navy trench and cobalt blue heels as you effortlessly kick on into the night.

So if you find yourself wistfully marking off the days until summer on a calendar or dreaming of sun-soaked beaches and tropical palms, remember that the most versatile colour is in this season. And even though most of us crave sunny mornings, balmy evenings and fewer layers, we can take comfort in the fact that blue’s back and we’re going to ride out this season in style.
