Though many young Hollywood celebrities are quick to enter rehab, the sensible ones are out there trying their hands on saving the world. Stars like Hayden Panettiere and our very own Isabel Lucas are both standing up for what they believe in even if it does cost them a fight with the foreign authorities.
Other than her acting career and success from hit show 'Heroes', Panettiere leads rallies against the resumption of Japanese's commercial whaling. She speaks to policymakers and students to educate and encourage them the increase in whale protection. She told press, “Whales face increasing threats from climate change, ship strikes, entanglement in nets, and chemical and noise pollution, yet Japan, Norway and Iceland continue to kill them in increasing numbers. I am looking forward to talking with officials who actually make and carry out our policies, as well as fellow young people who will be voting in the upcoming election—I want our voice to be heard.”
Lucas who has made a name for herself from 'Home and Away' and now has two hit movie deals under her belt has also taken the time to protest against the whaling commercial. The two stars met last year in a group of protestors paddling out to sea on surfboards on the coast of Wakayama to draw attention to the slaughtering of whales and dolphins by the Japanese Fishermen.
Though they did get into trouble for it, the Japanese authorities had issues arrest warrants, it did not break their commitment to the injustice doing. In fact, Lucas was quite pleased with the attention that was brought upon the whaling issue and believes it’s only the start to the protest.
