Carrie Underwood, Kate Moss and Other Celebrities Wearing the 1920's Flapper Trend
The 1920's fashion has time travelled into 2008 and many celebrities are swinging into the flapper trend with fringe dresses and other flapper inspired looks. The '20's was a time in history when women broke free from stifling fashion customs to become more independant. Women's new found freedom translated into more liberating fashions: shorter hair and dresses. Flappers were actually considered the counter culture and were often looked down upon for not following norms. So what does that mean for 2008? I think it means a few things: Carrie Underwood, Kate Moss and other celebrities wearing the 1920's flapper trend want to pay homage to that sexy era and they want revive that original girl-power energy with out being over-the-top.
After Kate Moss and Carrie Underwood wore flapper-esque dresses on the red carpet, fashion designers took note. Moss's dress is actually dripping with 60,000 Swarovski Crystal beads and took over 200 hours to hand embroider. Carrie's dress is a platinum sheath and metallic Badgley MIschka design.

If you feel that the full on flapper dress is a little too much for a night out on the town, there are other ways to wear the 1920's flapper trend. One flapper accessory that is always cute is the headband. Kristin Dunst wears an exaggerated flapper flower headband. Women with any hair color and length can pull off this look. Charlez Theron is super sexy with her fingerwave hairstyle that is straight from the 1920's flapper era. This is a tricky hairstyle to get right (but follow the link for tips).

FLAP ONTO THE TREND:
Other Flapper trends popping up are layered beads, feminine lacey tops, cloche hats. This trend is sultry and sophicitated. Give the style a try and you'll really enjoy it's classic message. If you're looking for a fun, flirty dress, buy this black flapper dress from edressme.com, for $72. The easiest way to get into the flapper fashion trend, like the celebrities, is to rock a headband (like Dunst...but cheaper) so try shopstyle.com. There's a wide variety and no matter what kind of hair you have you'll find a band that fits!

| I found a gorgeous black flapper dress and it was so short I couldn't get it- I adore this trend, though the huge flower head band looks as though it may eat Kristin Dunst. |
