Spurred on by an impressive review from my favourite Sydney newspaper, I made the venture to Campbell Parade to check out the latest Bite Me Burger Co restaurant (Paddington was the pioneer). Mmmm, burgers.
This spacious restaurant is decked out with garish trimmings and pictures but don’t let that put you off. Nor the cutlery encased in a cardboard sleeve emblazoned with ‘Eat Me’, or the moist towelettes screaming ‘Wet Me’, or some such. There are crayons and blank placemats to keep even adult guests entertained…yes, I indulged in both artistic and culinary pleasures during my visit!
The menu leaves diners spoilt for choice with an array of meets, cheeses, sauces and vegetarian options. You can even opt for Mini Bites, which are baby versions of the real deal, in servings or two, four or six. That way you can try an array of the burgers on offer, making the selection process that much easier.
I opted for the LAMBTASTIC™, and I quote, “A luscious lamb burger flavoured with mint, cumin & olives; rocket, cucumber, grilled red capsicum, grilled haloumi cheese & Greek yoghurt on a Turkish roll. Fan(lamb)tastic indeed!
Portion size was good, leaving one satisfied rather than about to explode, as some gourmet burgers can. For anyone who has experienced the genius of Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) in the UK, you will be pleased to experience the similarities or taste and menu options.
There are a bevy of cocktails and beer and wine, though maybe save your drinking for another less expensively priced (if only marginally) watering hole in the area.
I plan to visit again and slowly but surely work my way through the menu options – I have my eye on the bloody mary inspired offering next.
