Beyonce and Kate Hudson wearing the color eyeliner trend
I'm a makeup kind of gal. I wear it often and I've gone through many different makeup application rituals. I began simplifying my mutli-layer eye shadow look with colored eyeliners about a year ago. I always recieved compliments no matter how daring or bold the color. I like how bright greens and purples pop, especially with my pale skin and green eyes. Here's one of my personal favorite color combos:

Green on the top lid and purple on the bottom makes my green eyes pop!
But lately I've seen so many celebrities like, Beyonce and Kate Hudson wearing the color eyeliner trend and it makes me so excited. It's such a simple look that goes a long way. You can choose colors that compliment your outfit, skin, or your eyes.

I love Beyonce's exaggerated navy blue liner. She looks sultry and sophisticated and she knows how to draw attention to her big almond shaped eyes. Kate Hudson's green eyeliner makes her eyes look brighter and by wearing it only on the bottom it's not over done for her light skin tone.
Selena Gomez lines her eyes with a pale blue for a subtle look that's fresh and not too grown up. She lines the top completely and just the inner and outter on the bottom, which is a great trick if you're trying to draw attention to your eyes but not overpower your whole face. Ellen Page wears my favorite, purple, on both her lids but she lines them completely which is a strong look but I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Eye make up on the runway this fall and winter have been all about the bright shadows and liners. Dior's show featured some outlandish and bold makeup.

Dior's fabulous fall/winter runway makeup
Okay, I admit, Dior's eye makeup is near drag queen but what I'm trying to prove here is to go for bold! If you're feeling the doom and gloom of winter, your eye makeup doesn't have to show it. Step outside with bright, fun colors lining your eyes and you'll get a positive response. Proenza Schouler's runway show featured colored eyeliner as well, but it was much more toned down and a lot more accessable to the every day woman. I love the thick eyeliner look and I think anyone can pull it off, even those of us with smaller eyes. This year is all about colors popping and that's exactly what Christian Lacroix's model does here with her exotic, peacock like gold shadow framed with teal liner on the inner and outter corner of the lids.

Another runway makeup trend this year is white eyeliner. I'm not a huge fan because this makeup look washes me out, but if you have natural sun kissed, olive, almond, carmel, or chocolate skin tones, then this trend will make your eyes sexier in the colder months. It's the frosty look that's really sultry and attention grabbing. Shu Uemura is a popular Asian makeup line (but can be purchased online here) and it has great white liner that's been seen on the runway. The brand offers liquid and pencil liners that are long lasting, so it's the best of both worlds.

Tips for lining your lids with color:
If you want more control over your line, choose a pencil over liquid. You can smudge pencils to give a colorful smokey look. If you're using liquid liner play with the thickness--when you go thicker on top but you should leave the bottom bare.
For smaller eyes, line the inner and outter corners on the bottom; thinly line the top lid from the middle to outter corner--this will make eyes appear larger. For those with bigger eyes, line the entire upper lid and don't be scared to go thicker.
Leave lids bare, whether you're using a thicker line or thin, let the color eyelinder shine on it's own. Don't forget the mascara though.
If you have hazel, green or even blue eyes, purple and funky greens make your eyes sparkle and pop, if you have copper or brown eyes, navy blue looks the best. If you're feeling bold, try lining each lid with a different color. Experiment, it's fun and you can always wash it off if you're not really feeling it.
Are you going to give this fresh and fun makeup trend a try? How are you going to make this look individual?
