Australian Designer Profile: Willow
Kit Willow Podgornik is an Australian designer who debuted her label Willow at fashion week in 2003, and since then has made a name for herself by designing whimsical and romantic clothes, that are adored by everyone around the globe - Nicole Kidman, Kate Bosworth and Cate Blanchett are just some of her admirers who love her Australian designer dresses.
The woman that wears Willow is poised, elegant and full of romance. It is a special thing when a designer fashion label creates a complete atmosphere that is only re-enforced with each season, and Kit Willow has done just this with the release of her latest collection – Willow's 2009 Resort range.

In my opinion, Kit Willow (who in the past has helped to bring back the thigh high boot trend in her Winter 09 collection) cannot put a foot wrong when it comes to her ethereal designs, and this collection is definitely a major achievement in her career.
It seems that the theme for this latest collection is a clashing of old and new - the juxtaposition of Willow's trademark silky fabrics with geometric patterns on jackets, pants and even some geometric printed leggings. An art deco influence is also seen, and Willow's modern take on the bodice gives the clothes an edge. Diane Von Furstenberg's classic is also getting a makeover with Willow’s version of the jersey dress.

A highlight of the collection for me is the dreamy blue strapless maxi dress, however the blazers in this collection are also to die for, with shoulders looking like they belong on the slightly less dramatic sister of the Balmain blazers.
