It’s understandably hard not to be jealous of Anja Rubik. As well as having impossibly long legs and to-die-for cheekbones, the 23 year old has already worked with the likes of Balenciaga and Dolce and Gabbana. And, in typical supermodel fashion, Rubik manages to work a short, elvin crop just as well as her previously long tresses. Envious much?
Rubik was born on June 11, 1985 in Czestochowa, Poland. She enrolled in a local modelling contest at 15, where she was scouted by a Parisian agency. In February 2000, Rubik made her make her runway debut at fall Givenchy, Rochas and Nina Ricci. Two year later, she relocated to New York to pursue modelling full-time.

Since then, it’s all been uphill for the Polish supermodel. Rubik has been the face of Emporio Armani, Jimmy Choo and Oscar de la Renta and has appeared in haute couture fashion shows for the likes of Valentino and Christian Lacroix. She has appeared on the cover of Numero and Vogue and, in 2008, was appointed the face of Chloe perfume, alongside Chloë Sevigny and actor Clémence Poésy.
Modelling was a childhood dream of Rubik’s. “I have always dreamed of modelling, but it was my mum who had the courage and sent my pictures to a Polish modelling agency,” says Rubik. And, although she works in one of the most glamorous industries worldwide, Rubik has no illusions about the reality of the modelling. “It's a lot of hard work, long hours, constant travelling and often working in difficult conditions,” says Rubik.
Although already extremely successful, Rubik stays focused by concentrating on her own objectives. “My goal is to keep on working with the best people in the business,” she says. Judging by what we’ve already seen from Rubik, achieving this will be no problem at all.

| I really like Anja Rubik... but honestly these days models last as long as milk... they are huge and then over after one year... case in point? Gemma Ward |
