This week I was forced to slip out of my Elmo pyjamas, which had become dressy for me, and into some proper clothes. People talk about how the transition for uni student to worker is hard especially in regards to fashion but I didn't think that would be a problem for me. I'm not one to be overly scruffily dressed. I like to be presentable but you may sometimes catch me in a pair of track pants. Usually, however, I can be seen in jeans and a nice top or tights and a dress. I am particularly fond of the stocking tights instead of the thick tights that everyone can be seen in (I'm not sure why I prefer them- I just do).
My transition seemed to be especially trying for me at this particular time in my life because as the uni holidays stumble along I find myself straightening my hair less and less and that 3 in the afternoon wake up times are perfectly suitable. But suddenly, with a jolt, I was thrust into the normal world where I have to dress in anything but pyjamas, fling a brush through my hair and, dare I say it, wake up at 6. In the morning!
I didn't have any particular trouble in buying the clothes I had more trouble in putting them on. Elmo pyjamas are suitable work attire. I swear!
My day begins with a shower and then a strong coffee. Still, with all that caffeine, I manage to stumble around my little apartment unsure of myself and of what to wear. I have outfits perfectly selected but at 6 in the morning that all goes to crap. Suddenly those grey pants that I so love and that fit me just so do not match with any of my jackets and cardigans. And why is that people always look good in coats and pants and I always manage to look like and unfashionable troll/dwarf person?
In the end it takes me around about an hour and 45 minutes to get ready and as I now look at the clock the time tells me it is only 2.05 and I think wistfully back to last week when I was still asleep and still in my Elmo pyjamas.
